It’s hard to believe I’ve been the Presi-dent of the Auxiliary for 5 years already, time certainly flew by. I’ve learned a lot in the last couple of years including how important the Auxiliary really is to the whole Legion family. We are here to support, work hand in hand, as well as complete our own organi-zations goals. I can say without a doubt we have succeeded with fly-ing colors in our mission. Our entire post has exceeded all expectations and then some.
When I first became involved with the Legion 8 yrs ago I was just going to volunteer when and if I could. So much for that plan, as we all know, once you start to help around the post it snowballs into doing more and more. This is a good thing for everyone. I have learned from the best how to do things for the good of post and unit. In my corner I have had people such as Dot (50 years service), June, Edna, Doris, Thelma and many others teach me what it means to be an Auxiliary member
These women have been there, done that and are happy to show us newbie’s the ropes. There is a whole new crop of Auxiliary mem-bers learning from our seasoned members. And we are doing more every day as we work together with the Legionnaires and SAL members.
I can’t imagine what I would be doing with all my time without the Legion but I am sure it would not be as rewarding. When I go to sleep at night I know I did some-thing for a Veteran, a child or the community and that is more impor-tant. We are making a difference in our community.
As I step down the ladder I look forward to helping those stepping up. As we all know Sue will make a great President. Shannon will be wonderful in her new position as Vice President and Rita will be a valuable secretary for the group. Our other officers will fill their posi-tions with pride and great skill. June has been a fantastic Treas-urer and Girls State counselor. Judy will be our Chaplain/
Sunshine, Annette will collect our dues and of course Doris is ―The Historian‖ extraordinaire. All of these women have been invalu-able in my world and to the post.
I want to thank my Commanders Charles and Ernie and especially Tom Goldy, we worked well to-gether and I look forward for that to continue. As for Brian ―The Salommander‖and ―Gary the G-mander‖ thank you for all your help and friendship we really rocked things and will be better as we move forward.
Thank you all for helping my friends and I do what tasks the Auxiliary undertook and making it look easy, without the efforts of everyone we could not have done it. I look forward to our next year as we will be bigger and better as the Legion family grows.
